Well, "septem" means seven, doesn't it?

The same goes for October, November and December:

octo = eight

novem = nine

decem = ten

  2. Because seven ate nine (7,8,9)...so September became the ninth month!!!.

  3. Because the Roman dictator Julius Caesar wanted July named after him and wanted it where it was at.

  4. Yeah...u r right my friend, it should be like the way u think.

  5. It wasn't Julius Caesar, although he would later reform the calendar himself. In 153 BC the Romans reformed the calendar and the months were adjusted as follows: Ianuarius, Februarius, Martius, Aprilis, Maius, Iunius, Quintilis, Sextilis, September, October, November, and December. Quintilis was renamed for Julius Caesar in 44 BC and Sextilis for Augustus in 8 BC.
