  1. He should be he was a great catcher,,but he was on a team I didn't like cause I'm a Reds fan he was a St. Louis Cardnal.

  2. He had about 80 fewer homers than Carter, despite playing three more seasons. Carter was an All-Star 11 times, as compared to 8 for Simmons. Carter won three Gold Gloves, as compared to none for Simmons. Carter has only one World Series title, but that's one more than Simmons. Yes, Simmons had a better average and more RBI's, but overall he simply wasn't as good as Carter. Fisk is well beyond him, so there's no point in even comparing them.

  3. OK! Let's look at Ted Simmons.

He played in 2,456 Games.(Johnny Bench played in 2,158)

Ted Simmons retired in 1988 with the then record total of hits by a catcher of 2,472 hits which stood for twenty years until this year (2008) when Ivan Rodriguez set the new record for hits by a catcher and IRod resets the record with every subsequent hit.

Simmons batted .300 or better, seven different years in the 1970's when .300 hitters were not that common.

Simmons twice led the League in IBB,s,once in 1976 and again in 1977. He still ranks as # 15 on the alltime IBB,s list.

Ted Simmons was an "Eight" time All-Star selection.

He won a silver slugger award in 1980.

Life time, he batted in 1,389 runs. (Bench batted in 1,376)

  4. he doesn't talk like Carter. and he didn't play in the Red Sox Nation.

  5. Becuz he wasnt any good, get it through yer head Doyle bfor I take a kaiser blade to it, ummm hmmm.

  6. Fisk and Carter are questionable HOFers.  But they did have better careers than Simmons.  They both had more All-Star seasons than Simmons.  Gary Carter also got in because he was on a very popular team, and had many people campaign for him.
