  1. There are protest all the time, just not televised.

  2. because they are spoiled and really dont have any fight in them unlike the young people in the 60's and 70's.

  3. because most of Gen X was raised in the "me Generation" and don't think about anyone but themselves.  Each one thinks they are somehow special, their child is gifted and they are owed more than everyone else.  it wouldn't occur to most of them to put down the iPod or the remote or get out of the SUV long enough to protest or even write a check to help someone else.  as long as there is war in Iraq, they know they can get gas for their smogasaurus SUVs and heating oil for their McMansions...they don't care about anything beyond that.

  4. Maybe they figured out how to respect America instead of badmouthing it

  5. They're too damned busy downloading songs to their iPods. In other words, people today are too damned selfish.

BTW, the American president is leading the country down the toilet into perpetual war and everlasting debt.

  6. 60,000 military men and women died in the Vietnam War.

And most war protesters were drug users that used protesting as an exuse to get together to abuse drugs.

  7. I don't either. I don't know why ever American isn't outraged, and calling and writing there Senators. I support the troops , but not this war!

  8. Because they -like many of us - support the war effort.

The days of flag burning hippies is almost gone. Spitting on our soldiers and siding with our enemies is still alive and well in some political circles but most Americans - including us "generation Xers" - aren't buying into your delusions.

  9. There are protesters, they just don't get a lot of press.

Honestly - a lot of folks are jaded and don't feel that they're really make a difference. Both political parties are in it for the cash and their lobbies, be it big oil or whatever. Combine that with a president that doesn't seem to care what his people think...

  10. They're too busy playing XBox, Halo and listening to their ipods. The problem is that we have too many diversions, too many luxururies and too much debt to care about anyone but ourselves. I have spent a lot of time with younger people and that's where their heads are at. At that age in my day we didn't have as many diversions and paid more attention to what was going on in the world - plus, the draft lit a fire under everyone's butts to do something to change the course of the war or it meant they would be over there fighting as well. I guarantee, if the draft were reinstated you'd see one heck of an outcry from this country - both old and young alike - especially since most people do not support this war anymore.

  11. Because we are all too lazy and self centered to give a ****.

  12. Seems that these days the younger population cares only for $$$ -- soo iam not surprised to hear such things

And one more thing - Do u think that the younger population cares about politics -first of all i would say they don't know who's their president and asking them to protest about the war in Iraq

That's the reality what can u do

  13. Because maybe you should respect the presidents decision sometimes.

    Ya know?

    He has a hard job...

In fact, the hardest in the country.

If terrorism isn't stopped, life as we know it will never be the same...

  14. Mostly because it's a volunteer armed forces. In the 60's there was a draft & you either served or were jailed. that's why some ran away to Canada. If a draft is initiated again, you will see a revolt.

  15. Because back then they had a draft.  If we go to war w/ Iran they will bring the draft back for sure.  Watch the streets erupt then!  Seriously that guy at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. has no idea what he's getting his party into!

  16. Actually, as a matter of fact, there has been a lot more protest of the War on Iraqis than at comparable stages of the Vietnam War.

  17. Two words:  NO DRAFT

  18. Because the Iraq war isn't a big deal.

  19. Because they are not the liberal wienies you think they are. They realize how important it is to defeat the forces of evil in the world. The old hippies are the only ones making noise now. Just like they did back when they caused us to run out on SE Asia. Millions died there due to our cut and run. And the rest are still slaves to their governments.

  20. been there done that, got me nowhere, circa 1991, when i was an idealistic 18 year old who thought by protesting the war it could actually change the world, it didn't, i grew up as did the rest of gen xers

  21. yeah. i'm way into the activism scene. it's everywhere. . . it's really hard for us to get publicity lately, though. no one wants to put us on the news anymore. the only time we got a news station there was when we were protesting another news station. .

  22. in the sixties, they were stoned and paranoid :D, now they are all on extasy and dont give a ****

  23. becuase gen x and teens today are not a bunch of commie america haters like the filthy baby boomer scum were, and still are

  24. The youth wanted that terrorism be curtailed and it is the reason why they are not opposing the Iraq war.
