i wasnt really sure if most of it was our fault i got that theory from that al gore documentary

but i believed it was true considering the pollution, and how much power we use

  1. first it has yet to be proven that global warming is man made. i know what al gore says, but he is a politician and not a scientist. one only needs to look at the geological record to realize that this planet has had periods of warming and cooling far beyond what we have had in the last 100 years. in fact this planet has had warm periods far longer, and about 10-15 degrees hotter than in the last 100 years. and during those times man had nothing to do with global warming. this planet has also been planet snowball, again man had nothing to do with it. i suppose now you are going to say that man is causing mars to warm?

you have to understand that there are many factors that go into climate change, including solar activity, and other sources of cosmic radiation, along with natural sources of heat and greenhouse gases. before you buy into what the global climate change alarmists say, check the facts, and recognize that even the scientists  who claim global warming is man made dont fully understand the science behind global climate change. and if they dont understand the science, how can they make the assessment that man is the cause of climate change?

our bioshpere is a rather robust system that is self correcting. dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

  2. How can we blame anyone for something that does not exist ? I am of the opinion that global warming conspirators want to blame the U.S.A. for something, so why not an intangible that requires no proof. What better is there, if your being dishonest, to make money and blame the U.S.A.

It’s a good scam that is worthy of recent Nobel Prize recipients.

  3. Most of it is OUR fault?  No it is not.  See, this is why I don't believe in Global Warming:  people are still blaming this lie on Americans.  Turn your focus to Asia.  If anything, it's India and China.  America pollutes more than European countries, but look at it's size compared to a European country.  On a percent scale, we pollute about the same as a European country.  China and India on the other hand....  China is putting up, on average, three coal-burning plants a week.  A WEEK!  And I'm not sure about India, but it's something like that too.  Stop blaming America for everything.

  4. The U.S. accounts for maybe 20% of current emissions.

Some people say it's the fault of the United States because of historic emissions, but until someone invents a time machine, we can't hold long-dead people accountable (and I'm sure not going to accept the blame for them simply because some overly judgmental jerk says I should).

Most Americans do take global warming seriously:

"Seventy-one percent say that global warming is probably happening, 6 percent believe it is probably not happening..."

    http://www.fightglobalwarming.com/conten...

Unfortuntely our politicians take money from the oil and coal industries ($500,000 to Senator James Inhofe alone).

We have the opportunity to vote most of them out of office this November.  Make sure that you replace yours with people who will take action.

  5. I wouldn't say it's not taken seriously, but the majority of American people are simply not able to do much.  There are little things people are trying like carpooling, recycling, planting more trees, and conserving electricity, but besides that, there really isn't much you can do without drastically altering your life style.  Change isn't easy for many people and if we really wanted to make a huge difference, this would cost you more than just recycling and planting a few trees.    Because our economy is already falling under, living comfortably for many Americans is getting harder.  It sure would be nice if our workplace was conveniently placed ~a mile away from our home, but this simply isn't the case.  We rely on vehicles for nearly everything these days and fuel is simply the basis of this.   It all starts with one person though and maybe we should all begin by taking it upon ourselves to make this difference.

I agree that we bear some of the blame, but we can't simply place the blame on any one country.  We're all in this together and everyone, including China and the United States, need to take a step back and assess what should and needs to be done for the future of tomorrow.

Take that next step and try doing little things for the better of tomorrow.  It all starts with I.

  6. I'm worried that we will devastate our economy, and expend huge efforts in the wrong direction.

The preffered solution of global warming proponents is a "cap & trade" system. I think our biggest problem is the end of oil, and that we'd reduce CO2 more, by : reducing speed limits & taxing petroleum.  "cap & trade"  would create a large , new bureaucracy to decide who has to pay how much, to use energy.  Increased energy expense  would make it harder for industry to make products, at prices that people could afford. and it'd make it harder to adapt to the end of oil.

the cap & trade idea is a sneaky power (&money) grab. the stakes are very high, people should read more, and with an open mind.

Climate scientists agree that CO2 increases our atmospheres ability to retain heat. They don't agree that there will be a positive feedback effect

resulting in "catastrophic, runaway" warming. it's misleading to say "debates settled, scientists agree"

CO2 is 380 parts per million, of the atmosphere. this works out to about 2 feet per mile.

Water vapor content varies. at a median value of 2%, that would be 100 feet per mile of this very effective greenhouse gas....

I'm suspicious of  the Global warming  because facts are not presented, mostly alarmist claims, misleading statements, and " appeal to authority" type arguments.  The fishiest claim is that  "climatologists say they understand climate well enough to reccomend drastic actions at great cost"  "debates over".  Usually scientists require  really good proof, to go from theory to fact.

I don't claim to understand climate science, but I can recognise B.S. when it's being shoveled. please read some of the "denier" articles, and consider their ideas.

  7. 1. Man made global warming is a fraud.

    2. We are not causing anything.

    3. Americans can think for themselves.

  8. Global warming isn't human induced! but yes there is Global warming! The evidence is conclusive that the planet has slowly been getting warmer from the last Ice age. Burt there is ZERO evidence that we are the cause of that warming.

Yes the Glaciers are retreating. But one can use the Mendnehall Glacier as an example. The majority of the amount of retreat was BEFORE 1942.

There is other examples such as the retreat of the polar ice caps on Mars. This shows that it is most likely the sun , Not CO2 emissions that are causing the warming.

There are correlations that are made in Al Gore's Movie that have now been throughly discredited. For example he make a direct correlation to Hurricane Katrina and Global warming. It is alleged that there will be more Hurricanes because of our impact on the environment. Well this simply is not true. We have had LESS, Not more Hurricanes in the last two years. And one more thing, the U.S. isn't nearly the major leader in your "human caused global warming", china emits over twice the carbon we do, which is not harmful to the enviroment.

  9. I lived over seas ALL my life, but i was born in Texas. What i learned is that the USA thinks we are an important country and should let someone else care about the environment. We have caused over 50% of pollution in the world and we are the country with most roadside garbage. have you seen any authority care when someone litters.

  10. al gore is wrong

Most of the high CO2 levels are due the the fact that many tropical third world countries have cut down there rain forest.

this eliminates the rain forest trees that would have used the CO2.

    http://www.rainforests.net/

    http://www.rainforests.net/

We do not hear about this in the US because it does not match the treehugger agenda for wrecking the US

By the way less then 5 % of the increase in CO2 is from the US,

The treehuggers cook the output by only counting what they want as out put sources.

China put out more CO2 then the US but part of there out put is not counted.

The main reason for the high US output is that we did not keep pace with the rest of the world building nuclear power plants

That means that the "environmentalist are the cause" that WE are one of the highest CO2 emitters.

Now the environmentalist here want to blame the rest of us for what they caused.

  11. they figure ohh well were going to die someday so who cares ...8IM TO LAZY I DONT CARE ABOUT THE INVIORMENT AND WHAT HAPPENS AND THEY DONT THINK ANYTHING WILL HAPEN* IS WHAT PEOPLE THINK

PLEASE GIVE MY ANWSER A THUMBS UP I WOULD REALLY APPRICATE IT

    THANKS

  12. Americans have grown accustomed to their easy way of life and are not willing to give up even the smallest of their comforts. And some people DO want to help the environment, but don't have the money for it. Stores are set too far from homes and people can't just sell their old cars for new, environmentally friendly ones. My mom for example works 2+ miles away from our house she wakes up at 5 am and no mater how much she wants the exercise of riding her bike to work, she still can't do it. Being environmentally friendly is hard and costly. I'm not justifying it, but you have to look at it from both sides.

  13. some of the reasons are in this answer

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  14. I take it seriously and I'm from the USA. A person has to

think about the statement  "GLOBAL"  We "USA"  started

it all with our advanced technology now other countries are

    way bigger abusers.

  15. In the 80's we were headed for a global ICE age.

    >"Global cooling in general can refer to an overall cooling of the Earth. More specifically, it refers to a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth's surface and atmosphere along with a posited commencement of glaciation. This hypothesis never had significant scientific support, but gained temporary popular attention due to press reports following a better understanding of ice age cycles and a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s. "

    > Sound like the same only opisite of now.

There is a difference between being environmentally conscience, and not caring about alarmist propaganda.

IF and WHEN 100% of scientists agree than it is not a proven scientific fact. It is all the alarmist's that people are ignoring, not the environment.

Do not believe 75% of what the discovery channel or PBS say about anything. The other day I saw some alarmist spouting about the sea ice melt raising ocean levels by 10 feet. In grade school they taught us about displacement.

Float an ice cube in a beaker of water. mark the water level, after the ice melts look at the level.

Ice is frozen water. It is the air in the ice that makes it float. melt the ice and the air goes up and the water stays there. no change in level.

The earth has been warming since the ice age. Man is such an insignificant speck on the planet, we have little effect. Last year we had a record snowfall. Broke the old record by less than a foot. I did not think 1 inch of that 18 feet was very warm.

    .

there are 50 and 100 year cycles that we can track. there may be 1,000 and 10,000 year cycles that we have not had the technoladgy to track that we do not concider.

In short, Alarmist prevoke 2 responces, fear, and apathy.
