It says organic honey is not safe to eat but keeps our planet healthy.

  2. Honey is organic

Is honey “organic”?  Absolutely!  Honey is nature’s food and is all organic.  However, to be labeled “organic” and sold as an “organic” food, it must contain no herbicides or pesticides.  Because bees are not restricted as to where they fly, it is possible that they come in contact with substances that would add trace amounts of non-organic chemicals to the honey.  For this reason, most honey is sold as pure honey.  There are honey producers that are certified by the FDA to produce “organic” honey.  These producers have bee yards that are certain distances from any fields that might have been sprayed or contaminated.

  3. Honey isn't automatically organic because it's basically vomited up pollen. If the plant that produced the pollen was treated with chemical pesticides or fertilizers those are in the honey. There are also chemicals used in the beekeeping process.

There are USDA certified organic honeys available in which the plants in the bees territory are not chemically treated or the use of chemicals in the beekeeping process are organic.

  4. organic is something grown allnatural not pestisides or hormones ! a and sad to say but honey is nothing more than bee vomit !

  5. But isn't honey IS organic? Oh, now I fully understand what you're trying to say. Sometimes honey in the bottle (you know those bear-looking honey bottles) might come from factory (industry). It may be mixed with high-chemical substances that isn't beneficial for us human-beings. Or it might be processed through those machines where it eliminates almost all of the nutrients and vitamins. Sometimes, it might not be organic honey at all. Maybe it's just a blob of high fructose syrup or corn syrup. But organic honey comes from bumblebees (of course) and there are no other ingredients added to it. Just the taste of natural flowers.

  6. Well, tell her she's wrong.

    there are Organic honey's.

  7. I wonder if she means because some honey is pasteurized? Otherwise, I think it is an organic product as long as the bees are not raised with pesticides present.

  8. I buy local Raw Organic Honey all the time..????

  9. I used to keep a few hives when i had a certified organic farm but had a hard time finding anyone who could tell me how to keep bees organically. Eventually i found an organic bee keeper in my area and was able to figure out how to keep bees with no drugs/chemicals. For reasons that have little to do with all this I no longer keep bees.

there are antibiotics, insecticides and fungicides used in commercial and home hives to combat mites, diseases and fungii.

Organic apiaries use sticky bottom boards and smaller comb cells (the cells are the same size as in wild combs which means the bees are a bit smaller but able to much more effectively clean the mites and eggs off of their bodies than bees in hives with larger comb cells that have larger bodies). they fumigate hives with menthol and other plant based fumigants.

It does not matter where the bees forage for pollen and nectar as far as organic certification is concerned

And it is true that honey is fermented bee vomit and it is one of the healthiest things for humans to use and consume. It is much more than a food, it is also an anti bacterial and anti fungal agent and honey will last, literally, forever (or at least several thousand years)

  10. Technically, honey IS organic.  The large amounts of sugar act as a natural preservative and it isn't altered before packaging.  Perhaps she says that because there are natural bacteria living in honey.
