My apple mac ibook dual usb g3 seems to be working fine...apart from the screen itself, I can see that the computer is on because I can see the screen when I hold it up to the window. The lights back light doesn't come on as it should. I have checked the contrast / brightness and they are fine.

Having shut the top and let it go to sleep I then opened it up really slowly and it came on fine..but I then opened it up fully and it goes off? The light seems to work if I open it up slowly but as soon as I open it more than about an inch it goes off? Any ideas please?

  1. A loose power connection from the inverter to the backlight sounds like a possibility.

It's old enough that it's probably not worth fixing.

  2. if you're talking about the light on the back of the screen in the shape of an apple then you should just check to make sure it's power and other wires are connected right to the motherboard.
