I recently purchased a GeForce 6200 graphics card. I installed it successfully and it ran faultlessly with the basic windows driver. But when i installed the driver from the disk or download it from the Nvidea site the card dies and there is no display on the moniter. I then rwevert to my on board graphics chip and i will see a display. All answers and suggestions welcome. Thanks

  1. You are installing different drivers that do not match with your windows version. If you have Vista then there are completely different drivers for this product. Go here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.asp... and choose nvidia geforce 6 series, correct version of windows and language to download the correct drivers.

  2. The drive does not and you need the install the lates later for you box and operating system. anso chech for IRQ conflicts.

  3. hi ciaran

this isnt unusual and happens with older nvidia cards like the fx and 6 series cards

allthough you shouldnt have to try using the driver disk that come with the card, these should work fine

however before that try moving any pci cards you have in your pc such as soundcards or netowrk cards, these can sometimes cause interupt request (irq) conflicts, these are rare but do occur

to discover the irq for each piece of hardware right clock my computer and select properties(right click computer in vista) and then select hardware>device manager, then right click each peice of hardware and select properties>then go to the resource tab and then to resource settings, scroll down and you will see the devices irq setting, for example the graphic card may be "19"

some devices do share irq,s without a problem however sometimes it causes problems and you should then try another irq

for a really well explained tutorial on editing irq settings go to http://www.helpwithpcs.com/upgrading/cha...

                  good luck ciaran
