We have a side-by-side fridge/freezer combo that hasn't been cold enough for the past 2 days. We unplugged it and started it again with no help. It is blowing air, just not cold enough. How do we fix this?

  1. Is the freezer section cold?

  2. If the freezer is cold but the refrigerator isn't it probably is a circulation problem due to ice build up or a fan.  See here for some ideas:  http://www.repairclinic.com/0088_4_1.asp

  3. Call sears for service

    or get a new one

  4. make sure the motor and coils beneath the unit are absolutely clean. Free of dust, dirt, dog and cat hair.

Make sure there is free space around the unit for air to circulate on all four sides and along the top.

  5. Did you unplug it for a day with the doors open?Do that after a thorough cleaning and it might just work if you have ice buildup.

  6. I had this same problem and thank goodness it was covered under warrantee. The Fan motor was shot. The cooling motor is in the freezer and blows cold air into the fridge through an opening at the top of the divider. Heck make sure you don't have a bunch of stuff blocking that vent. The air then travels down the back of the fridge. Check on that area too for things that block the flow.  However....if it's just not cold enopugh then I would suspect your cooling coils are frosted over do like the one guy says.  Clean it out and defrost it.  If it still not working after two days of operation...call in the "VERY expensive" repair folks.
