Why isn't my Sims 2 game working when it's worked before?

This is the message that comes up every time i try and load the Sims 2:

I've downloaded 'DirectX 9.0c' but it still hasn't worked, I searched Google to see if anyone else was having this problem and found something which seemed very complicated, but I tried searching for my internal graphics card (?) like it said, by right-clicking on My Computer, going to Properties, clicking on the Hardware tab, going to Device Manager and looking for my graphics card in there. But there wasn't anything.

Can anyone help me get my Sims 2 to work?

I obviously have a graphics card otherwise I wouldn't be able to see anything on my screen..

  1. You are right. The error message is NOT saying you don't have DirectX 9.0c, it's saying that you don't have a card/adapter that supports DirectX 9.0c. A card that supports DirectX 9.0c is essential when trying to run the Sims 2.

You can try this method for trying to find your card :http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title...

Now compare your card with the supported cards: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title...

If it's not listed your only option unfortunately is to upgrade to one of the cards that is.

  2. maybe it has got itself in a twist. Restart your pc and try again. If that doesn't work maybe uninstalling and re installing all the games again!

    Hope i helped
