  1. Does the TV have "ant" and "cable" connectors on the back?  Or Ant 1 and Ant 2?

Have a VCR connected?  Turn it off then scan.

You didnt mention a cable box.  If you have a cable box it needs to be turned on when scanning then you'll find the picture on channel 3 or 4 but if this is the way you have it hooked up (cable box) it is far from being the best connection for picture quality.  Hook it up with composite (yellow) or component (green blue red) wires for video with red and white wires for audio, or HDMI if it has the capability.

  2. Do you subscribe to a cable service? If not, select "antenna" or "air", NOT "cable" and rescan your channels. Selecting "cable" when you use an antenna will result in 0 channels found during your channel scan.

If you do subscribe to a cable service, then you may just have a faulty TV. Your description is appropriate for a "cable" scan (up to the blue screen part) and should have resulted in locating your cable channels. Consider returning this TV.

Additional Details: One more thought; check your coaxial cable. Is it tightened down properly? Is the center conductor bent? Contact the cable company and verify they are not having any problems in your area.
