Why isn't my surround sound working?

Well, a couple of days ago I went to turn on my home theater system, and nothing worked, my dad and I checked the surge protector (very fancy one, not just the one with a switch), and it wasn't hooking up with our Dolby surround sound box. After some reconfiguration, we managed to get it to work with the HD channels that support it, but it is now 3 days later and it won't work with the xbox 360 or those HD channels.

Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it?

you shluld check the amplifier and see if its working properly and out put is coming or not and if it working fine then check with Tuders or the connections properly and check if any noise is coming along with the sound.
