Why isn't my volume working?

Okay, so one day my volume just stopped working. I have no idea what is was! My dad tried to fix it but out speaker is really old so whenever we move it it makes a REALLY REALLY loud static sound. So he eventually just unplugged the volume altogether. Usually I don't use volume, but I need it to just USE Windows Movie Maker, even if I don't use music. It says when I try to open it, "Windows Movie Maker cannot be used because the required audio hardware cannot be found on your computer." Like it was there one day, and then the next, not. I've reset the computer, shut it down, unplug and plug in the volume plug thing, and I can't figure it out. Can somebody help me?

  2. the driver for your sound card is bad or outdated. go online and firgure out what kind of sound hardware you have and get the driver. go to http://www.drivers.com

  3. Your drivers are missing. Do you have built in audio on your motherboard? If so you will have to type in your computer model and number and look up audio drivers and then find it and download it.
