  1. You may need to have the thermostat adjusted/replaced. If you can remove the unit, take it outside and clean the fins with a garden hose. Good luck

  2. check the filter if it still is not blowing cold as it was ,it needs to be recharged with freeon, and unless you have a friend to do it for you your better off looking for a new one.check the local papers for ac on sale.good luck

  3. My experience tells me this:

There are 2 very common problems in window A/C's of any age and they are

    1. The coils are dirty - take it outside take the cover off and clean both coils very good.

    2. It has a leak - buy a new one. If it is 5 years old it will be more cost effective to buy a new one.

3.Window A/C's generally do not come with charging ports You will be looking at well over $100 to have the port installed.

Sounds like you bought a defective unit, if it is less than a year old, can you take it back? If not, it appears you will have to buy a new one.

  4. Check the trouble shooting guide in the owners manual or read it online at the manufacturers  website. If that's no help I would price a new one as a service call is going to be around $100 plus the price of  the refrigerant. ( I suspect it's low)

  5. Check the level of refrigerant.
