  1. I agree with everything Scott has said. If you do not have great content the search engines will not find you. If your competition has sites that have much older URL's you are going to have to compete. I would recommend starting off targeting niche keywords for your site that are not as competitive because you can sit here for a very long time and still never be found.

one area of marketing that Scott did not touch upon that might work out well for you since you have a brick & mortar location is local search engine marketing.

Take a look at this site:

    http://www.brickmarketinglocal.com

this allows you to grab your local audience which might be a good start for you. It is much less inexpensive than attempting to go national. you should still continue with you regular SEO efforts but a local search product couple with your normal SEO practices should yield you great results over time. just remember that website traffic and loyal visitrs takes a great deal of time so you really have to be patient.

  3. Don't fall into the trap of thinking your meta tags are the way you get into the search engines.  A month's time is still borderline for a new site, but your site has huge, huge SEO problems.  I hate to break the news, but it's good for you to know.

First of all your site is designed almost 100% on graphics.  That's a huge no-no.   I tested your site and it has almost zero indexable content.  End of show.  Nothing else I could say would make up for that.  You absolutely MUST fix this.  And yes, it means lots of copy writing.

Search engines need text to index.  More accurately, your site needs friggin' GREAT content to compete in such an ultra-saturated market as fitness.  I know, my largest clients are in the fitness industry and it's dog-eat-dog.  Not only do you have to get into the search engines but you need to have an offer that people want.

In web marketing you first find an audience and then you build a product or service to market to them not the other way around.  How do you KNOW people want what you're selling?  Have you proven it somehow?

I recommend that you set your site up using Wordpress and get a couple of personal trainers to contribute knowledge from the world of fitness regularly - do equipment reviews, write about health discoveries, and make content that people will want to link to (not sales copy, but genuinely useful information.)  Put your products on Wordpress pages (I recommend the revolution Wordpress themes plus four plug-ins... 1. contact form plugin, 2. All-in-one SEO. 3. Wordpress backup and 4. Comment challenge to prevent comment spam.

Get a professional SEO locally to second my opinion and help you get out of the situation.  Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have a billboard in the basement for a while.  SEOs are well worth their rates - don't go cheap if you're serious about doing well online.  It's too bad more people don't ask for SEO help before they start working on their websites - it would make a huge difference.

    I wish you best luck!
