Question:

Why isn't single wicket cricket popular anymore?

Wouldn't it be great to see the best all rounders of the world take each other on in one-on-one duels? Why does no one ever think of reviving the format so that cricket can also have its share of great personal rivalries, like Federer vs Nadal in tennis?

  1. well cricket is a team sport just like basketball, soccer, football, hockey, rugby, and many others and wouldn't it be gr8 to c kobe vs. lebron james one on one and tendulkar vs. lara but kno a team sprt remains a team sport

  2. Wasn't there a double wicket long time ago?  They were made of pairs of all-rounders competing with each other.

  3. There will be more fights and only three umpires will not be sufficient to handle the situation if Ghambhir is batting and Afredi is bowling, or Harbhajan is bating and Sreesanth bowling.

  4. never heard of 'single wicket cricket'

It doesn't really sound like cricket coz cricket is essentially a team sport. There aren't many personal rivalries but there are definitely team rivalries like ind v pakistan and aussie v sri lanka, eng, SA (well, aus against everyone else basically).

  5. Wow, that takes us back in time!

It could be trialled I suppose, perhaps in the warm up to a Twenty20 game.

Harbhajan v Symonds in a single wicket contest.

    Now that would be fun!
