Why isn't the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain finished yet?

I'm doing a project on the Sagrada Familia and I need to know why it isn't finished yet. That's worth like 25% of my grade. A little more information would help also. Thanks :)

Is true that the master architect Antoni Gaudi die during the process of construction, but I don't think this is the reason to be unfinished. I believe the principal problem is technology and cost.

The concepts of Gaudi are spectacular and requires structural studies that are very difficult to visualize at this moment ( He really needs CAD programs). The cost was also a big problem. Gaudi spend his personal money to built the church and at his last days he was living like a homeless inside the building(and die like a homeless).

Another true event is that during the Spanish Civil War a guerrilla enter the building and destroy the plans and models prepared by Gaudi. Some documents remains and they are the bases for continuing the work. If you visit La Sagrada Familia Museum in the basement of the church you can find some of the originals plans and reconstruction models.

On going issues of funding... I have seen it, and there are some pics on my 360 photo's, It's an amazing sight, but will be finished in several years time

Money, money, money or maybe concept. Gaudi was not the original artist on the project however when he took over the project developed to a new level. His architectural genius inspired the translation of the Bible into visual form. He received funding for the project but the funds have run out a couple of times. Now visitors help to fund the completion of the project the project is now over one hundred years old.  It is breathe taking. The cathedral is being built by the people. I'm not sure it was ever meant to be completed. Kinda like the never ending story. Brilliant! absolutely brilliant!
