  1. I agree with everything you said, which is just part of the reason I don't vote. We suck big time, I know, I sound horrible. We can just be so much better we have really sunk to a new low.

  2. the u.s. does not stress education, it pushes for equality, thus you bring down the average. we are a leader of health, it is being healthy that we are weak. we prefer the easy way out as a whole and are looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, without going outside to stand in the rain.

  3. The American education has always been less efficient than many European countries for a variety of reason. Firstly, many European countries pay for University education. As a result, educational institutions are not focused on having a high number of students because they would actually lose more money oppose to American universities that have lower admission standards in order to increase their profit margin. Europeans have a wider variety of high school courses, which provides a broader base of knowledge (3 mandatory second language classes and multiple different science courses per year). European countries also have longer school days and less time off in the summer. This is only the beginning... I would have to write essay to outline all of the issues.

  4. I think we're too focused on acceptance and trying to be well-rounded that we don't get in-depth as much as we used to in some educational fields. For example, we're too afraid of offending people to include classes on some subjects. Also, we were so focused on other classes, that we cut PE time, which has contributed to childhood obesity. We don't want to make the overweight children feel badly about themselves, so we don't encourage them to go outside and play. The problems seem to get worse before they get better.

  5. "Why isn't the United State's education as efficient as many other European countries"

Based on that statement i'm guessing US education is pretty bad. Since when was USA in Europe? I know it was probably just a typing error but pretty ironic though.

I'm not sure about the education but I think that the problem with US healthcare is the fact that its corporation based: you have to pay for it directly and the companies in charge want to make money, rather than wanting to provide the best possible service. I knows its not as extreme and simple as that but its pretty important.

Also, USA invests a great deal of money into the military meaning less for other (in my opinion more important) things

  6. Education and it's efficiency is determined by a lot of things.

In France, secondary education is free.

There are also wayyyyyyy more people to educate.

Plus, from going to Public School, it's very, very, very badly run.

  7. Unlike most countries, the U.S. health system is not run nor funded by the government. In London and France, the government directly pays for any of your medical finances;such as having a baby, breaking your leg, cancer (besides cosmetic surgery). However, the citizens of the UK have much higher taxes than in the U.S., so that is why the government has enough money to financially care for all its people. American citizens are promised by the government to have low taxes, so that is why there is not enough money to fund all its citizens. I'm pretty sure that European taxes are less expensive by our extreme hospital bills. (My mother got an $18,000 bill for staying half a day in a hospital! I got a $130,000+ bill for my leg surgery. My family can't afford to pay off ANY of these.)Basically, U.S. hospitals are run by insurance companies (big business men), and many people get denied health care by those companies (even if they are paying customers or not). All in all, the U.S. is a capitalist nation that sucks at caring for its own people. (You should watch the movie Sicko, by Michael Moore to get a better understanding of this whole situation.)

Education in the U.S. is as segregated as ever, even though us citizens have been promised to have EQUALity in learning. The poorness of this system is usually shown in high school. It's obvious that kids who live in the white suburban area receive a much better education than kids who live in a run down home where much of the nation's poverty occurs. The problem is is that the government is not paying enough attention to all its public schools. Also, the education system is mediocre compared to other countries. Most U.S. schools overload their students with homework, which can prove to be very regrettable. Students will get stressed, and lose enthusiasm for school, which will likely help lower standardized test scores. Basically, the U.S. education system is whacked out and not properly taken care of.

The so-called "Richest and strongest nation in the world" can't even take care of its own people. The government is basically saying,"Why take care of your people if they will become strong enough to fight against you for their rights? Let them all fail, suffer, and die."

  8. A lack of political will is all.

That and the strength of the teachers' union. Vouchers could fix a lot....

If Americans want high paying jobs they have to compete to get them, and we are not very competitive right now.

I would not say that everything for which our country stands is gone; I would much rather live here than in Russia or even Georgia, let alone Zimbabwe or Belarus.

And anyone who does not vote gives up all rights to complain - if it bothers you, do what you can to fix it.

  9. If not sarcasm then will say The Cold War. Also spending cuts and closures of schools. Advertisers coming into schools and television adds instead of education. Propaganda. National Security Act.

No militias to support the people. Health Insurance instead of Health Care outright. Contempt for a society which cares for people with even distribution of cash. Also emphasis on rote answerers in schools rather than asking questions and direct participation. Also not encouraging people to research in libraries. This goes for extra ciricular activities but could be put to use to augment things. Also a prevelence of books with the title Idiot's Guide to Computers and such when plain information is sufficient.

  10. Our education system totally needs an overhaul as does our health system.  We are pretty pathetic, aren't we?  The problem is that we still think we are the best as we are very arrogant.  I hope something changes for the better.
