Why isn't the sound from my tv and surround sound system not in sync?

  1. Don't use both.


  2. your system needs to be reset.....unplug your directv or dish for 15 seconds and let it reboot

  3. The point of a surround system is to not use the cheap speakers built into the TV set, so turn off the TV sound and no more problem.

  4. Are you using a TIVO box? If you are that might be the problem right there. Since the video signal that goes into the TIVO is recorded it can be a few milliseconds to a few seconds off from what you hear out of your speakers. This could also hapen if you have a DVR through your cable or satellite provider. There might be an option through your surround sound system called "AV SYNC". You can use this option to delay the audio or video to sync it up. You should consult the manual that came with your surround sound system to see if you have this option. There might be a similar option through your TV. It also depends on how you hook up your TV to your surround sound system.
