Why isn't the sound working on my computer?

I was given an old computer by a friend that didn't want it. When i got it the sound was working fine but after i reformatted it, it won't play any sounds. I have tried different speakers using front and back plugs and nothing works. Also the speaker icon in the bottom right of the screen has disappeared . Please help!!!

You will have to reinstall the Audio Drivers. They should be on the discs, or you can find them on the manufacturers website in the support section. Just find your model and download the drivers.

im not too computer savvy but i think theres a way to go properties or something and u have to make the pc aware of the speakers and select the available hardware

You will have to redownload the drivers for the sound card on the computer. Go to the microsoft web site or the computer manufactures web site and find you computer modle there and download the right drivers. Once the drivers are downloaded the computer will have sound again.
