  1. When the oil runs out, good to the last drop, we can start.

  2. <whiny politician> BUT IT COSTS TOO MUCH MUNNEEEEE!! EEE-EEEEEEY!!! </whiny politician>

  3. The Manhattan Project and Human Genome Project were both aimed at a particular outcome.  They knew where they were going.

Where's our energy going?  Should we concentrate on wind and ignore geothermal, or vice versa?  For solar, should we be looking at concentrating thermal with hot water storage, photovoltaics with battery storage, or something else?  How much can changes at the point of energy use influence our ability to use different types of energy production?

Not so simple, and not the kind of thing that can be solved with one megaproject.  The "magic bullet" idea is how we got dead ends like corn ethanol and hydrogen cars; we should instead use tax policy to make fossil energy less attractive, and then get out of the way and let the market and inventors find a way to put the non-fossil future together.

  4. there is but, big oil is more profitable since is was predicted that we were at peak production

GE owns alot more then we know
