Why isn't there a bruise where I got nailed?

I got a pretty hard knee to my quad while playing basketball last night. I got a bit of a dead leg and figured it would just bruise. It's painful when I put pressure on it, but there's no bruise or mark anywhere? What's going on with this?

  1. it could be bruised on the inside of your leg.  just cause you cant see it doesnt mean it isnt bruised especially if it hurts when you push on it.

  2. Because you drove hammered and are visualizing a non bruised knee.

  3. Sometimes if the ruptured blood vessels are deeper below the skin than normal, the bruise will take a few days before the blood surfaces to the skin.

  4. The bruise might be deep inside- too far to see.

It might take some time to appear on the surface.

  5. In self-defence class we learnt that if you get hit hard enough (like down to the bone), it usually takes several days for the bruises to 'rise to the surface' and show on your skin.
