I just bought a watch from nordstrom today. It's just a simple, pretty Anne Klein regular watch. Not digital or anything, with a leather strap.... I took it home to find that it had stopped! How do I fix this???

p.s. it was the last one at nordstrom so if i return i can't get the same one again. i would really like to know hw to fix it!

  1. open it and put in new batteries, my dad fixes watches and he alway replaces batteries, and they still work.

  2. It may sound stupid, but do you have the dial push button pushed all the way in? Sometimes it is pulled out, which will stop the watch, to save battery.

  3. Oh, boy! A regular ordinary, watch!

On the side of the watch by 3:00 o'clock symbol is a 'stem'. It looks like a small dial piece. Carefully use two fingers to turn it clockwise a few times. WHile it turns, it will probably make a slight clicking sound; that's natural. WInd it a few times (maybe five or six). That will start the time again. If it has a sweep hand, the hand will then move.

In order to set the time, you will need to carefully pull the stem out slightly with your fingers. The best way is to use two fingers, and gently pull on the stem. It will move a very small distance outwards and then probably click or stop.

(P.S. You might find that the watch stem is already out. This may be accidental, but it would have stopped the movement.

Just carefully push it into place. The movement should start.)

Then go back th the paragraph above to eset the time.

Then set the time by turning the stem clckwise or counter clockwise.

When the time is set, carefully push the stem back in.

You didn't mention that the watch had a battery or not, but many do. Perhaps it simply needs a new battery?
