Why isn't this working??

I started a web page through the Red Cross to raise some money for Malaria prevention. I emailed the link to 168 people, and only one person donated. Please have a look and tell me why this isn't working, or if you have any advice on how I can reach people on this one. It's very important to me, I appreciate any donations or feedback you can give. Thanks!

  1. If you mailed it to 168 persons and got one to donate then you were lucky. People in general don't donate and those who do are often hesitant to do so to sites/pages they have gotten through mail. There are far to many scams going on online right now. You do link back to the Red Cross page but it's still hard for the average internet user to tell if you page is valid or a scam.

What you need to do if you want more visitors and donations to your page is to keep on spamming mailboxes and forums. That's why spam works, the more they get their message out the more likely it is that someone follows the link and does what they are asked to do. If 1 person in 200 does it then it's a really good figure. I know you are spreading your message for a good cause, but the principles are the same, get your message out there and count those you do get to donate and forget the masses that don't.

  2. Though I appreciate my colleagues reasoning, I believe it is more than just reaching the masses...the economy, problems at home, work and our Country are a priority right now.  We in the USA are still recovering from Katrina, jobless, and those that do have employment having problems with getting back and forth to work.

Add in the cost of groceries, skyrocketing utilities, education and health care for those that can afford it....and well you see where I am coming from.

As natural as it is for human beings to want to help each other, it is not always possible, I for one appreciate your efforts and I do wish you success.  Hang in there, most of us are at this point...and thank you for caring....
