Why isn't water pink?

Isn't it ? Well when istare down at a lake the water is pink. And when I look into my bath, the water is pink. I thought water was pink ?

Or is there some other explanation ?

White light is made up of 7 colour, Red,Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. The water molecules split up this light and the colour you see is the colour or combination of colours that aren't absorbed by the light. This is commonplace for all objects; e.g. Green Leaves. The molecules of a leaf abosorb all the light wavelengths (R,O,Y,B,I,V) only green is reflected and therefore is the colour you see. A combination of these colours (e.g. Blue and Red emiited, causes the object to be purple; just like mixing paints.)

There are generally two things that give color to solutions:  1) particles and 2) dissolved solids.  

The simple answer is that 1) no particles are present and 2) dissolved molecules that reflect pink are not present in any significant amount.

Water isn't pink (or red, or orange, or yellow) because light of longer wavelengths passes through water without being scattered. Light of shorter wavelength (blue) does get scattered by water, giving it a light-blue hue when you see large quantaties of it.

why should it be?

our eyes don't see it pink but maybe from other perspectives it is. Its just to the pigment in our eyes and how they react to what we see. You never know, it might be pink. I mean bees look at flowers a different colour so there is no actual answer

It's not pink because the sky isn't pink. Whatever the sky is, that's what the water will be. Actually it's not blue either, it just looks blue.
