Why isnt jump setting allowed in beach vball?

i heard its not allowed in US tourneys but they allow it in like the international tourneys

  2. yeah i haven't heard of that either but i'm not an expert! I've only heard thats its easier to set regularly because you have more control that way...and on the beach thats what you need is ball control

        Theoretically it is allowed - you can set standing, jumping, kneeling, or on your back...  But the rules are called a lot tighter in beach than they are indoor.  If the ball comes out with any spin on the AVP, they will call a double contact - so it is easier to just bump set.

         Also, there isn't the advantage to jumpsetting on the beach that there is indoors.  Jumpsetting indoors makes the defense worry about you dumping/tipping.  It also speeds up the offense (and can be more deceptive) making it harder for the opposing middle blocker to get outside for a double block.  None of this matters on the beach because everyone knows who you are setting - there is only one choice - and tipping isn't allowed.
