im using a dsl g604t gen II router but whenever i check the DHCP client list at 10.1.1.1, my computer isnt registered there and the only clients are my brother and my dads computers who use wireless. When i turn on my wireless on my laptop, my computers name is there but not when i use jst a normal ethernet connection. Also before i port forward, my computer is registered on the list but after i save and reboot settings, its gone. It wasnt always like this and its really starting to annoy me.

Someone said that it might be a virus or spyware or a hacker so i checked for viruses and it deleted the files that were dangerous but its still like this.

I also tried upgrading firmware but it still doesnt work.

does anyone know why this is happening and how i can fix it? (preferably using ways that are free)

  1. Sounds like when you are using the hard wired connection that you are sharing it with the two wireless connected computers. Since you are directly connected to the router, while the other two are not, you effectively become the router for them. You don't need an IP address in that case.

When you are on wireless, you become just another client and then require an IP address.

If you disable connection sharing while you are using the hard wired connection, this should return you to status as a client on the home network.
