Why isnt my computer reading my camera?

well me and my sisters waz making this video.... so i hook it in my computer and nothin happend. yea its the right cored and yes its in all the way. help plz!!

try restarting your computer

is the camera showing up and not just the video?

if that is the case look through the pictures that show up and find the one that has a musical note or something similar it may not show up as a picture

if that doesn't work double check to make sure it is connected all the way, it may be that or the cord shorted out,
