Why isnt my texting working?

my texting on my phone hasnt been working since yesterday. when i type in the phone number, its fine. then i press ok and start to type a message and it says there is no more available space. but i have 10 pages of 160 characters each.

what could be wrong with my phone? is it just set on some weird setting? or do i just need a new phone?
