Why isnt my x box 360 controller staying connected?

Every time i turn on my controller and x box 360 the controller wont stay connected and it says "please reconnect x box 360 controller".

  1. You may have the wrong controller on it. Not all controllers work on it depending what kind of xbox 360 and what kind of controller you have
