Why isnt the bronze medal flag raised lower than the silver medal?

why are they even? shouldnt the bronze medal be a little bit lower than silver?

This was another one of those things that are newly introduced in 08 Beijing Olympics.  They feel that silver and bronze are both "runner-ups", so both deserve equally as much respect rather than just 1,2,3.

To me it doesn't make any differences cause Silver and Bronze don't count.. The Gold is the one that only matter..

i was wondering the same. the podiums or w.e they stand on are the same height as well.
