Why isnt the news rated....I hate how all these tv shows and movies are rated, yet the news is more violent?

  1. it might be because there is usually a warning before they show the clips...the anchor may say "warning, this may be graphic" or you'll hear a little bit of what the next segment is about...some people might also think that young children might not be watching...the times the news is on is usually around when kids are eating, in school, or in bed.


  2. TV shows are rated because they're scripted and the network KNOWS what's going to be run on the tv show. And movies are rated by a committee months before they're released. Comparing the news with Tv/Movies is hardly fair.

    News is impromptu. Especially CNN's Headline News. Many times though the anchor WILL warn the viewer if something suggestive is about to be shown/talked about. But when the news networks air live footage of something, it's out of their control. News is reality, so people shouldn't watch it expecting the newscast to be over positive events.
