Why it's beneficial for Americans to purchase U.S. brand automobiles?

It's the "patriotic" thing to do.  But I think that's ridiculous.  I'll buy what's best for me.

its not, the "U.S." cars are made in canada and mexico, better off buying a honda, nissan or toyota, at least most of them are made in america using the old plants that chevy ford and dodge shut down

It's only beneficial if that purchase suits your needs.  I don't give a rat's a-double-s how my purchase affects anyone else.
