  1. In actuality, HDTV uses more bandwidth than analog TV. What makes it better is partially the following: It can be condensed and transmitted in digital media form making it available over the net, and via satellite without the headache of conversion from one source to another. Also, transmission can be monitored more accurately.  There is a whole bunch of technicalities involved as well. But for the most part, it is for air-wave management. Basically, it will allow the government to be able control what is on and when it is on more easily.


  2. because its taking up too much airwaves for the fire and police department and you will get channels that you have never seen before while you were on  regular antenna and the channels are crystal clear as if you were on cable or satelite
