Why leaf color is changing from green to different colors?

  1. When the weather gets colder & the days get shorter, the trees get less sunlight. The lack of sunlight slows photosynthesis & limits the amount of chlorophyll the leaves can make. The remaining chlorophyll (the green color) disentigrates, leaving behind the other colors (the red, yellow, & orange). The other colors were always there, but they were just covered up by the green chlorophyll during the spring/summer.


  2. as the season changes, there is less sunlight and it gets colder

    the leaves start to die and do not produce as much clorophyll (the stuff that makes it green) so they turn brownish and die and fall off the tree

  3. You see, during the autumn, plants begin getting less and less sun, and therefore they get less photosynthesis, so they rely on getting their nurishment from their roots rather than leaves, and they let the leaves die to conserve energy.  They change colors do to their death
