  1. cause earth is rotating about its axis but is slightly inclined on other side,  for eg. take a small ball and hold it in ur hand slightly inclined towards ur hand and light a torch by other hand so that light is directly onto ball. u will see that it covers most of the half but it it does not cover the ends inclined towards ur hand and away from ur hand.
