  1. because the Scandinavians are fisherman and they live by the water and grow up on fish more than Hungarians do

  2. Usually, a taste like that is culturally acquired.  Very rare is the Nordic citizen who does not like some type of fish.  Because it's so common, "everyone" likes it -- and because "everyone" likes it, it's very common.  There are honestly also folks who think it's genetic.  There is some basis for that, though I'm not sure how much.

  3. For the same reason that most Americans don't like feta, and most Greeks love it- most foods are an acquired taste and we're culturally conditioned to like or dislike certain things.

Hungary is land-locked, and most Scandinavian countries have lots of islands and easy access to the sea. This means that fish was much more easily accessible in Nordic countries, and not as easily available in Hungary, so it wasn't a major part of Hungarian diet.

  4. I don't think you can accurately measure that by recipes or by a couple peoples opinions. Hungarians love carp, like the carp found in lake balaton. Don't forget that in supermarkets they get all kinds of imported fish like the rest of the world.

  5. because most Scandinavian country are surrounded by the sea .. and it is natural that they like fish...

Hungry is more inland.... fish is not a ready non cheap commodities..
