Why might some plants and animals become fossilized and other do not? List at least 3 reasons.?

  1. Sheer luck, not being in a suitable environment for fossilisation, being fossilized but then the remains being destroyed by geological activity or exposure to the elements.


  2. One reason would be that they weren't in the right location. Only sedimentary rock can have fossils. That's really all I can think off of the top of my head.

  3. 1. only hard parts of animals get fossilized like bones and teeth.

    2. they get fossilized by minerals replacing the hard parts over a long time so if there is not many minerals i the soil / rock then they wont.

    3. some animals and lots of plants dont have parts hard enough to fossilize i.e. worms are not likely to get fossilized because they are very soft

    4. the process of fossilization needs very specific circumstances which cannot be found everywhere
