i never knew this but if they are muslim they usually dont drink in the first place

My husband is Moroccan and he says it has something to do with prayers not being accepted or the practice of participating in Ramadan not being accepted if a person doesn't stop 40 days prior to Ramadan beginning.  Of course Muslims are not supposed to be drinking alcohol in the first place, but in my experience there are many Muslims who do things they are not allowed to do, just as there are many people in other religions who do things forbidden by that religion.

I had never heard that they do---but if they do, then it is definitely a good idea because they can get the alcohol totally and completely out of their systems before the fasting actually starts.  It would be harder on their fasting bodies if they were also trying to process the alcohol.
