That is a gross assumption.  They're people.  

That's like asking why most Americans are jerks.  The world sees Americans as jerks, so therefore they must all be jerks, right?  No.

Some people see Arab people as terrorists, so that must mean that all of them are, right?  No.  They're the same as everyone else in the world.  There are some bad Arab people, but there are many more good Arab people.

I think they appear to us to be short tempered and intolerant because humor is not encouraged in that culture. The American culture is surrounded by some sort of humor every day. We use it on ourselves, others, and in daily situations. It's also a coping mechanism. But in many Eastern cultures, it is downplayed, and is only used as a means of insulting. So naturally, everything we say can easily be misinterpreted.

Not all of them are short tempered. But many have that nature to be that way.

This is why, The Bible says in Genesis 16:11-12

11And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

I see this with Italian folks, their voices are raised and their arms are everywhere but by their sides but that is the way they are they're the loveliest people in the world. No. I'm not, I'm a Scot.

I don't think you can make this kind of generalization about any ethnic group. There are short tempered people and patient people in every country.

If I had to pick one region where many people have short fuses it wouldn't be the Middle East - it would be northern India.

they come from an area where there is a lot of violence. they're identity has become associated with this violence because that is how people perceive them. treat someone like a criminal and they end up behaving like one. also their culture is also oppressive for some arabs (not all, im not making generalisations), so these arabs may feel angry because of that.

Good lord you guys, cut the guy some slack, he didn't say "why are all muslims angry" or "why are all Muslims terrorists."  It sounds like it has the potential to be an honest question.  Don't be so quick to slap a label on people just because they didn't word an honest question in a way to your liking.  Simply saying, "Most arabs are not short tempered, contrary to whatever experience you might have had" is perfectly adequate, you don't need to throw an insult in.  Grow up.

Anyway.

They're not short tempered.  In Arab cultures the way people talk is typically very loud and with a lot of gesturing and very lively, so what you may see as aggression or anger might just be a person's natural, baseline reaction to something.  I observed this when I visited Egypt last year, especially when shopping, as it's pretty typical in haggling, but it's just a little competition (and Middle Eastern culture is EXTREMELY competitive).
