Why motility test should be done at log phase of bacterial growth?

  1. Because it is the optimal phase to test for motility, ie the bacteria are healthy and this is when motility occurs.  If you did the test in lag phase you may not observe motility but then you are not testing the bacteria at their optimal conditions as they are still adjusting/trying to survive in the new media.
