  1. This is because as it gets higher and higher the oxygen gets lower and lower. Also did you know that sunlight goes in a straight line. Also at a place called barrows point (i think0)

recieves 6 mnths of sunlight and six months of night time. Meaning at the night time months ther will probably be mostly pitch dark then dusk for some hours then a dawn like sunlight for an hour.

  2. Keeping all other things aside, let's take nearness as you said it is neare to sun. With this I need to demonstrate 'sense of proportion' in making a claim.

Compared to sea level the summit of Mt.Everest is 5.5 miles (higher) nearer, that too when on summer solstice when sun is direct at 23.45 deg whereas the peak is marginally away at 28deg still OK. On Winter solstice when sun is on -23.45deg, the peak is only 2 miles nearer on the direct line to sun. Compare this with the distance of

93,499,093,750 miles from the center of earth;deduct 3187.5 (at Mt.Everest's latitude) miles for earth's radius, you'll get

93,499,090,562.5 miles - that is the distance to sea level (surface of earth). Mind you, I have not included the seasonal variation in distance due to the orbit being elliptical though the ellipticity is 1/60 or 0.017. The radiation flux falling is inversely proportional to square of distance. On this enormous scale of nearly 10^11 miles, do you think 2 or 5.5 miles does matter really?

  3. Because the higher you get (altitude) the colder it is. So when water vapour in air cools at that height it will form snow flakes and fall onto the mountain and because the mountain is cold it doesnt melt.

    hope i helpeded lolololololol

  4. Altitude, I believe.

Then again, I'm 15 and the most complex science I have tackled is biology I.
