Why must I behave this way???

Question

I have a new job starting on Monday. Well, that's what the offer letter said, dated 8/14, contingent upon a successful background check. HR said they would send out an email confirming the items they went over on the phone when they made their offer on 8/13. I hadn't heard from HR yet so I called at 11 am today (EST), left a message and still haven't received a return phone call.

I KNOW in my brain that its only been 2 hours but why does my mind start racing???

I have another interview for another job on Friday at 1 that I would like to cancel as I have a very busy weekend before I start work on Monday and I am so afraid to cancel it until I hear back from HR.

Why must my mind keep playing this game?

mind is like a monkey which keeps on jumping from one branch to another, one who has controlled it it becomes ones best friend and uncontrolled mind is worst enemy

Be patient. Sometimes things like this takes awhile. You will soon here what hopefully will be good news for you. I wish you luck.

If you know that your background will check out, then you should be certain of a job according to what you say the letter states.  You are just nervous and anxious.  From my experience nothing ever happens in my timing.  There are always delays.  But it sounds like you are okay, unless you are a felon and if so then you might want to go to that interview on Friday.  Good Luck
