the record companies want to make it "relevant" to today's kids.  it's like when hillary and her sister did a cover of the go-go's "our lips are sealed."  stupid.

Cindi Lauper.  Hands down.

Miley sounds like she has a cold, and there's nothing special about her voice.  And Cindi was unique...and awesome!

I think somebody like Cyrus does it because she thinks it will give her "credibility".  In her case, it will never work.  She can't even do "bubble gum pop"; she absolutely cannot sing.
