i dnt mean to sound like a jackass but it seems unfair that the palestinians are being left out in the cold, its not like the jews won a war or something, the land was given to them for religious purposes(which in democracy there is a seperation of church and state) also the reason i hear the most for what happened is that the jews where there first, well texas, cali, az, nm, co belonged to mexico first but i know that the moment the u.s. gives that territory back there'll be alot of angry americans, is this a double standard? is it really fair?

  1. You are sadly misinformed.

Firstly, the land that is Israel was given to the Israelis by God.  They lived therefor thousands of years, being carried away as slaves and always returning.  When they returned the desert always bloomed.

Rome drove them out in the first century and renamed the land Palestine. (land by the sea)   Many Jews stayed in what was now Israel.   After the first world war the world council (largely Britain who controlled the area) promised to create a Jewish state of Israel.  That promise was not honored until 1948 when Israel was created.   The world turned it's back on the new Israeli state, most Palestinians fled, and the others started a guerilla war of terror against the infant state.  Most of the land was purchased,( the palestinians being tenants.)

No other Arab nation would take in the palestinians who fled.  They were not chased out, they ran.

In 1967 all of Israel's Islamic neighbors waged war on Israel.  And Israel won.

They expanded their territory  when they captured lands, (the spoils of war, from the nations who were trying to destroy them)

So the land was given by God, given by international decree, paid for with money and paid for with blood when they beat back their attackers.  They didn't start the war but they sure finished it.

The Palestinians have been sitting whining ever since, blaming everything on  the Jews.  They have waged a war of terror on Israel for the last 60 years that the world has largely ignored.

Their Arab neighbors want the captured lands returned that were won in the 1967 war.  Some of them have been.  Unfortunately when Israel gave the Gaza strip back, the palestinians destroyed the industries that could have supported them. (They trashed and looted commercial greenhouses)  Israel also lost the Gaza as a buffer zone.  The palestinians use it to launch rockets into Israel to continue their reign of terror and death.   But if Israel cuts off the welfare or utilities the whole world cries out "unfair"

How would you feel if we gave Texas back to Mexico and they not only expected you to provide economic support but used Texas to bomb the rest of the US?  that is what palestine is doing.

The palestinians want a "right of return".  That means every person who is descended from the original palestinians who fled Israel in 1948 or is even remotely related to them, (we are talking millions and millions of people) can return and have full citizenship in a democratic Jewish country.  That means the Jews will become a minority in their own country and lose ALL their rights.   Is this fair?

And many palestinians live in Israel,  they did not all run away, and they are respected citizens of Israel even thought they are Muslims.

Sadly, no one reads history anymore.

  2. Israel granted full citizenship to all of the Palestinian Arabs who fell within its borders after the War of Independence. Arabic is an official language in Israel. Israel remains to this day one of the few countries in the Middle East where Arabs can legitimately vote--and it is the only one where women can vote.

    No wars?

The War of Independence (November 1947 - March 1949), also known as "War of Liberation".

    The Sinai War (October 1956)

    Six-Day War (June 1967)

    War of Attrition (1969-1970)

    Yom Kippur War (October 1973)

    First Lebanon War (1982)

    Second Lebanon War (summer 2006)

  3. I don't think it is much of a question of recognition as it is a laying down of arms which Israel has been trying to accomplish.  It is just difficult NOT to retaliate when the government of Palestine condones or remains indifferent to suicide bombers and terrorism against Israel.

  4. Despite US/Israel disinformation to the contrary, Palestine has long recognised Israel's right to exist under a two state solution on internationally agreed borders brokered by the UN 30-odd years ago.  Only the US and Israel axis of evil (the US has veto power) blocked implementation of this.  The Arab League (including Iran) followed Palestine immediately.

Israel was forcibly wrested from Palestine residents, and has since continually and illegally annexed further Palestinian land and resources.  This has deliberately reduced the Palestinian territories into disconnected and unviable cantons - effectively large concentration camps.

Inside the concentration camps, which cannot support themselves as so much of their resources have been appropriated by the Israelis, the oppression and harassment  has been cruel and relentless.  Constant air, missile, and helicopter gunship strikes and official and civilian kidnappings and assassinations.  Periodic tank-led invasions and destruction followed by further land occupations.

Every now and again, just to rub it in, the camps are blockaded and no UN or other international food and medical or other aid is allowed in and/or power and fuel supplies, also controlled by the US/Israelis, are cut.  The current attempts to escape from the Gaza concentration camp into Egypt are a result of one of these US/Israeli super-atrocities .

The US and Israel, just by coincidence, of course, have probably the most compliant (owned by members of the ruling plutocracy) media in the world.  Most of their citizens would have no way of uncovering these sort of facts.  Many Israelis are probably still unaware that they are a nuclear power - courtesy of the US.

  6. The thing is that Israel wants to recognize a Palestinian state and has agreed in principal to do so if they can develop a stable government that also recognizes Israel's right to exist.  Israel has given the Palestinians 95% of the land they want, but the Palestinians still won't recognize that Israel exists.  How can Israel have relations with a country that wants it destroyed?
