  1. Because there will come a time wherein energy would be limited that black-outs would be scheduled at a certain time everyday. Techis like me would not approve to thta, do you?

  2. You've got some responses, but none yet that is exhaustive enough to be really convincing.

We will start with the well knoown axiom that energy can not be created from nothing and it can not disappear into nothing. It can be spent by doing work or it can materialize in matter. On the other hand, in certain circumstances, matter can be initialized to transform to energy, according to random relativity equation E=mc2.

That also means that the source oof all energy in the universe are processes that are going on inside stars, like our sun is. Now, we spend a lot more energy than by using natural ways we could abstract from the sun. This are fossil sources of energy, like oil and coal, which in fact are nothing else but stored solar energy from passed ages. And we spend a lot of it. The average assumption is that everybody on the western hemisphere uses the equivalent of 200 slaves working in fossil energy every day. That means that the lot of us in a day spend energy that used to accumulate for hundreds or even thousands of years. That is a lot like living on one's savings. Doesn't matter how huge they are, they are going to run out someday. And we are spending like drunken sailors.

But because energy transforms from one form to another, it is sometimes difficult to save it responsibly. Let's say - it is not enough to use electric car instead of a gasoline one, you must also know how the electricity has been produced. If you fill your car with the electricity that has been produced in a thermal power station run on fossil fuel, then in fact you are not saving, you are wasting energy. If you use biodiesel that has been produced in a intensive agricultured farm, you are again wasting energy and not saving it. It has been calculated that for every gallon of biodiesel to be produced, close to one and a half gallons of fossil oil has been consumed in the form of fertilisers and tractor fuel. So, why not better burn it directly in your car.

We are huge consumers of energy and our demands are growing. It is evident that sooner or later we will be forced to take decisions. What is more important: that the biochemical industry runs smoothly or that we are allowed to drive at will? What is more important, to keep a hospital operating or to maintain fuel reserves foro the army? What is more important, to fertilise our fields so we can eat or to keep our appartments heated?

This is the kind of questions we will be forced to answer soon. Every time you walk instead of drive, every time you turn off the lamp that shines without a reason, every time you recycle something that was traditionally thrown away, you help to postpone that moment. That's why the energy must be saved.

But remember, the only savings that are 100%, is when you extract more energy from the sun that is shining down on us today. Every other avenue, be that biofuel or hydrogen or whatever else, may have strings attached that will make us pay latter. That's why solar is so important.

  3. We have to save energy for our younger generation.  Save energy in whatever way it is possible. Don't think why, think it is a must.

  4. the explanation of energy is:it is the ability to work, and we know that the energy sources is not infinite so we should save it and plan for it's using untill the next generation can do their works.

  5. so that we can still make use of its abundant supply in the future.  because there could be a time where we can have no energy used because we already consumed it much in the past times

  6. bEcaUse wee HavE nothinG beTTer to dO

  7. "they're" not making any more of it.

  8. It's not saving the energy but replacing it with another non pollution one.  It is affecting the climate and the air we breath.

Below are two excellent websites to learn about climate change affects and what we can do to change it..

  9. yeah, he's right. we've got limited supply here. we better try the renewable sources of enery--and just stick to them.

  10. Because no matter what we do there is a limited supply of it.
