I live in 2 bed 2 bath flat with 2 -3 person. only one person who stay in daytime regularly, others go work early and come home at late night.

I have been living here for over 4 years with Severn Trent Water. previous average I pay £140-£180 for a annual bill. but recently I receive one bill which cost £ 142 only for 3 month. I called up the Severn Trent Water, they told me to switch off the water tap, and to see if the meter still running. and the meter seems working fine. but I still dont understand why there is so much difference ..

could it be the meter problem? and they won't know. because I did receive letters from the company says need to check on my meter but no one came at the end. Please help..

  1. Could you possibly have a leak somewhere in your pipes?  Find out how much it will cost if the water company come and check this for you, and then find out from a plumber how much they would charge.

Or contact the water company again and see what they advise next.

  2. i would call the queen for an investigation...

  3. If you have a flat with 3 people, you should expect to pay about £400 a year in water charges.  Have a look at your bills for the past few years and see if they are based on estimated readings.  If they are, they have been underestimating your water use and this bill is to catch up.

I had a similar problem with a water meter.  The meter reader didn't bother  getting out of bed and made up readings for all the meters in my street.
