Why my SSN is not good for credit history?

I just got my SS Card, and I got an "aproved" credit to buy a car... I'm actually driving the car now. The dealer call me to tell me that the bank refused my credit as my SS# is "not for credit, only for work". I'm here on an intracompany transfer (L1-A visa), my SS card says "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION". Does that mean that I will never be able to get a credit (history)? Sensible answers only, things like "No" or "I don't know" or "Go back to your f***ng country" will be reported inmediatelly. Thanks

THEY SAY IT IS TO BE USED FOR WORK ONLY SO YOU CAN'T USE IT TO APPLY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY OR DISABILITY BENEFITS.  YOUR CREDIT HISTORY CAN BE MAINTAINED DESPITE THIS CARD SAYING IT CAN ONLY BE USED FOR WORK.  IF THE CAR DEALER GAVE YOU THE CAR TO TAKE HOME WITH YOU BEFORE HE GOT YOUR CREDIT APPLICATION APPROVED HE IS BEING SNEAKY.  HE WILL PROBABLY TRY TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG SO HE CAN CHARGE YOU MORE MONEYOR A HIGHER RATE FOR YOUR LOAN.  IN THIS COUNTRY VERY FEW PEOPLE TRUST CAR SALESMEN BECAUSE MOST OF THEM ARE DISHONEST.  BE CAREFUL.

You can only get a credit history with a valid ss# not a work only #.

Who knows... maybe you gotta become a US citizen to hold those kinds of 'benefits'.  they may worry you might jump ship... so to speak.

They are probably telling you that you have no credit history, at least in the U.S.

I would check with my employer and see if they can tell you anything?

And I agree be careful with the car dealer.There are lots of cars out there right now...make sure your not being taken advantaged of.
