Why my Wii turns wifi on when the console is off

Even when then console is turned off this connects to the Internet, also the disk blue light turns on.

  1. It does this because of it's WiiConnect24 service. While the console is in standby, it stays on so that it can automatically receive messages or updates from Nintendo or one of your Wii Friends. The disc slot lights up when you receive one of these updates or messages. However, you can always turn this option off in the Wii settings. Just go to the main menu, go to the Wii Options, then go to Internet, then WiiConnect24, then change that setting to Off. Please note that the steps may be a little different than this, I have not gone into the settings for a while. But it should be similar to this. You can find it...hope this helps!
