Hopefully, your computer has a drawer loading DVD drive. Finalize the disc (if it needs it - read the manual).

Download and install HandBrake

http://handbrake.fr/

Take the disc out of the camcorder and put it in the computer's drawer loading DVD drive.

Rip the video to something your video editor likes... Since you did not tell us what computer you are using:

Windows - Microsoft MovieMaker like .avi., .wmv, .dv and Apple Macintosh like .mov, .mp4 and .dv... THEN import the converted file to MovieMkaer or iMovieHD.

Warning: DVD based camcorders provide the worst available quality because of highest amount of compression.

NEVER put a small or odd shaped disc like the 8cm disc in a slot loader. Buy a drawer loader for video transfer.
