Why my cordless phone wakes me at night making strange noises ?

I do know that the phone company tests phone lines overnight with an automated system called MLT (Mechanized Line Test).  They test one line of a group nightly.  If your phone mysteriously rings in the middle in the night then stops, it could be the automated testing.  If this is the case, you can call the phone company voice your concerns and ask them to use a different number for testing.  They will program a different number for testing.
